   General Notes:

Raised in Ireland. 1/4 Scottish 3/4 English. Lived in a hut with a dirt floor. Family on one side; cows on the other. She had very poor eyesight and was shunned by the kids in her Protestant School in Ireland. Her father sent her to a Catholic Convent School. She was given her first pair of glasses by the nuns at the school. Came to the U.S. with her father, mother, sister Emily and brother Edward on the SS Britannic arriving 3 weeks before her 17th birthday, July 17, 1896 from Queenstown, Ireland (now Cobh, since 1920) to New York City. The passsenger list says their destination is Waterport, NY. Census of 1900 says she was living in Erie County, Buffalo NY with her husband, Robert Childs and first son James Edward. She was born on the Isle of Wight or Isle of Man and was raised in Southern Ireland.

(Robert Simeon Child was born on 21 Aug 1868 in Great Gaddesden, Watersend, Hertsfordshire, England, died on 10 Oct 1938 in Duluth, Minnesota and was buried on 12 Oct 1938 in Park Hill Cemetery, 2500 Vermilion Road, Duluth, lot 0-10-5.) The cause of his death was cerebral Thombosis.
